Indspire’s Soaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conferences

Indspire invites high school educators and their First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students to attend Indspire’sSoaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conferences in Vancouver, BC on either Thursday, February 11, 2016 or Friday, February 12, 2016. At Soaring, students may explore post-secondary options through campus tours, engage in career workshops and an interactive tradeshow with industry professionals, and learn about Indspire’s bursaries and scholarships.

The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver Community College, and the University of British Columbia will each host a Soaring event that will include a complimentary lunch and prize giveaways. Registration Deadline: January 21, 2016.

Lattitude Global Volunteering

Are you in grades 11 or 12 and are thinking about taking a gap year after graduation?  A representative from Lattitude Global Volunteering will be in the Career Center next Friday, Dec. 11th at 11:30am.  Receive all the information you need about overseas placements, what volunteer positions are available and costs/reimbursements for the program.  Please sign up on the bulletin board across from the main office.

Invitation to Students & Parents/Guardians

Find Your Fit Career Exploration Event (www.findyourfittour.ca)  Churchill Secondary’s small gym will be transformed into an amazing array of interactive stations for students and parents/guardians to explore.  It is an opportunity to learn about the most in-demand jobs in BC, investigate training options, and connect with free WorkBC information and services.   It is targeted to Grades 6 and up.  An “open to all” public session will be held on Mon, Dec 7th from 3:30pm to 7pm.  This is a free event that is sure to be engaging and informative.​  The address is 7055 Heather St. (near Oak & 54th).
