UBC Sauder School of Business, BCom Program,  On-line Information Sessions 
UBC Sauder School of Business, BCom program is offering on-line presentations.  There is one scheduled for Thursday, January 26th, from 5:30 to 6:30 PST.  Other sessions include:

Summer College Programs for High School Students
Cornell University
On-line application is now open.  Summer College 2012 includes three-and six-week programs in architecture, business, arts and design, college success, engineering, environmental studies, hotel management, history and politics, humanities, law and government, medicine, psychology, research and science and veterinary medicine and animal science.  Experience the excitement of college life, earn college credit, take undergraduate courses at Cornell University and make friends from around the world.  For more info, contact summer_college@cornell.edu or 607-255-6203.  Most applications are due May 4th.

LPI Exam
Vancouver Technical Secondary is now registered to host the LPI exam on April 19, 2012.  Student registration for this sitting is now open.  Van Tech students can register online at www.lpitest.ca. Registration for this test sitting will close on April 10, 2012.

Vancouver Film School (VFS) Game Design Expo 2012
Jan. 21-22, 2012.  If you are interested in a career in the game industry, don’t miss this event.

News Day in BC

Volunteering

The 20th Annual Wellness Show
Volunteers are still required for the 20th Annual Wellness Show on February 17, 18 and 19, 2012.  Various volunteer positions available including marketing surveyors, hosts/floaters/ runners and admission area helpers  etc.  Go to http://www.thewellnessshow.com/ for more info and to http://vantechcc.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/job-description-all-positions.docx for job descriptions.  Remaining volunteer positions and shift hours are posted outside the Career Centre.  For more info and sign up, see Mrs. Lee at the Career Centre.  Volunteer Orientation meeting is scheduled for Feb. 16th at 5 pm @ Vancouver Convention Centre (East Building).  Meet at Exhibit Hall “B” prior to the orientation.  Please note if you are volunteering on the Feb. 17th (Fri.) and require to miss school time, you must complete the necessary paperwork and have permission to do so.

BCIC Young Innovator Scholarship
Entrepreneurial Grade 11 and 12 students entering full-time studies at a BC post-secondary institution in one of the following programs: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, digital arts+media+design, business entrepreneurship. Minimum one scholarship per registered school in British Columbia. The scholarships are valued at $2000 per awarded entry. The scholarships are awarded through two methods:  Idea MashUp: A competition that challenges students to create a new technology by mashing together two or more current technologies. Post-Secondary Mini-Fair/Presentation
Indigenous, First Nations and Metis learners are invited to attend a post-secondary education mini-fair/presentation on Wed. Nov. 23rd, 9am-12pm in Room 101 at Britannia Secondary.  Meet recruiters from 17 post-secondary institutions including BCIT, Cap U, Douglas College, Justice Institute of BC, Langara College, Native Education Centre, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Aboriginal Policing Services, SFU and UBC.  For a detailed list of all participating institutions, check out the posting on the Career Centre bulletin.

Fellowship

TRIUMF High School Fellowship
Fellowship includes an award of $3000 and a six-week summer research experience at TRIUMF.  Opportunity to work with world-class research teams.  For students who are pursuing a career in science, in particular physics and are graduating from high school and will be entering their first undergraduate year at a recognized post-secondary institution.  Two or more fellowships offered each year.   Information and forms can be found at http://www.triumf.ca/outreach/high-school-fellowship.  Deadline: February 29, 2012.
